LED – Emotionalize your light!

Since I’m seriously lazy writing here, I figured out I just claim being too busy or even better: I have nothing interesting to write about. A bloggers destiny.
Haha, kidding. In fact, I do have something interesting to write about:
Our design- and innovation contest for emotional LED-Lightsolutions takes off and I am extremely happy about it. Within 5 weeks, the community grew to almost 600 members who generated almost 250 ideas until now. But there’s no end to this: Only today, 14 (!) new entries have been made! To be honest, we have no idea how to evaluate all of them…
But HYVE wasn’t the innovation company if we haven’t thought about this upfront. Fortunately, we have the community evaluated all ideas and the discussions give excellent feedback about the idea’s qualities. Oh, I shall also mention that by now 1.500 comments with altogether 50.000 words have been posted on the platform in discussions and another 400 messages have been posted on users’ profiles. I love these stats – compared to active discussion boards or platforms like facebook these aren’t very impressive figures. But regarding that we are online since the beginning of May, it shows how powerful and how dedicated the members of led-emotionalize your light! are and how much this topic can fascinate people. And I may also asume that it shows our concept of a community for innovative people (let’s say an “innovation community”) goes down the right road. So we are motivated to take this on the next level with all the great and creative people from more than 70 different countries.

Progress? Kinda…

I really need to get startet with my dissertation. First of all, I need to define clearly the topic I want to work on in the near future. For sure I will think about innovation and online communities, but more to come soon. It is rather difficult to concentrate and to really push things while you have to work a lot. The fascination and the fun of dealing with a topic which is so hot and interesting in our days scientifically grows daily and therefore I’m positive that my dissertation will be a valuable contribution to my life. And I will do my best in order to make it a valuable contribution to science as well
Anyway, first of all, I need to finish my homework for my first course, so keep your fingers crossed!

Gestern hatte ich das Vergnügen, der offiziellen Eröffnungsfeier von cityful.com beizuwohnen.

cityful.com ist eine revolutionäre Plattform für Städtereisende, die mein Studienzwilling Marius und unser Freund Lugi ins Leben gerufen haben. Die Seite verknüpft einen unschlagbar interessanten Mix aus Sehenswürdigkeiten und Insidertips für Salzburg mit perfekter Usability. Sämtliche Inhalte wie z.B. Museen, Party-Locations, Spaziergänge, Events und vieles mehr kann ich in dem praktischen Feature myGUIDE in meinem individuellen Reiseführer speichern und verwalten. Das ganze wird umrandet von der neuesten Buchungsengine, mit der Flüge und Hotels gebucht werden können.

cityful.com ist derzeit für Salzburg online und wird in naher Zukunft weitere Städte bedienen. Ich bin sehr gespannt, wie abartig die Plattform abhebt, dass sie es tut steht außer Frage.

T-Mobile ohne iPhone sucks

Vorweg: Ich bin stinksauer.
Wenn man sich als Kunde von T-Mobile kein iPhone aufschwatzen lässt, wird man von diesem Verein ganz schön hängen gelassen.
Konkret geht es darum, dass mein Telefon technisch dem so hervorragenden wie ordinären Apple-Telefon in nichts nachsteht. Eigentlich ist es aus meiner Sicht sogar ein Stück weit besser, aber das ist jetzt nicht von Belang.
Ich kann jedenfalls keine Emails via POP und IMAP trotz Internet-Flatrate empfangen und senden, da diese Dienste gesperrt sind. Damit muss ich zum Email checken immer den Browser benutzen, obwohl ich Outlook auf dem Telefon habe. Um diese Dienste nutzen zu können, müsste ich zusätzlich zu meiner ohnehin witzlosen Grundgebühr weitere 3,95 € zahlen. Und eine Email-Adresse bei T-Mobile einrichten.
iPhone-Verträge haben das alles inklusive und sind günstiger. Die 4 Euro stürzen mich aller Voraussicht nach nicht in den Ruin. Aber es nervt, dass man als jahrelanger Kunde eine der wichtigsten Funktionen eines Windows Mobile Telefons trotz Internet-Flatrate nicht nutzen kann, während jeder Kasperl mit iPhone und Laserschwert-Applikation Emails rumschickt ohne Unterlass.
Um meinen MDA zu vertretbaren Kosten wirklich nutzen zu können, müsste ich mir eigentlich einen iPhone-Vertrag besorgen.
Ist doch irgendwie strange. Also für Leute, die explizit kein iPhone wollen (ich finde es wirklich klasse, nur hat es halt einfach jeder) ist T-Mobile sicher nicht der richtige Anbieter.

Extraordinary online idea competition for a more sustainable future

The GREEN IDEATION QUEST initiated by researchers of the University of Innsbruck is an innovative and interactive idea competition. The contest is running until March 20 2009 and the quest is all about creative ideas related to a more sustainable future.

The GREEN IDEATION QUEST employs a unique combination of an immersive virtual world experience within Second Life and a web-based community platform. There are no limits to the participants’ creativity! Visitors are invited to experience the problem with current energy solutions and explore alternative sources. Next creative challenges await the avatars within Second Life and participants are encouraged to engage in group discussions. The ideas can be described on the web-platform and supported by either a 3D model or any other image. Lectures by sustainability experts can be experienced in real-time. Participants, who already have a Second Life account, can also go directly to the place in Second Life by clicking here. Those new to Second Life are invited to register for free at www.seconlife.com and visit the competition’s web site at http://hyvebox.de/secondlife. Within Second Life interested avatars can join the group “Ideation Quest” for updates or send an Instant Message to Rein Spire for support.

All ideas resulting from the competition are licensed under a creative commons agreement and for every completed quest the University of Innsbruck donates Eur 5, – to “Light for the world” helping children in developing countries to restore their eyesight (http://www.light-for-the-world.at/).

Buch fertig

Habe ein neues Buch fertig, echt gut. Mehr gibt es unter Real Books. Ich würde auch gerne mehr schreiben hier, hab aber jetzt überhaupt keinen Bock mehr. Mir fehlen auch irgendwie die Themen, scheinbar passiert nichts Interessantes. Aber eigentlich passieren ständige spannende Sachen. Z.B. die überarbeiteten Nutzungsbedingungen von Facebook oder mobiles Marketing für die Nutzung von Körperwärme. Da könnte man sich fast zu Gedanken machen. Morgen.

Um ehrlich zu sein waren mir diese Blogs immer ein wenig suspekt. Mittlerweile droht einem normal sterblichen Internetnutzer, im User Generated Content imformationstechnisch zu ersaufen. Dazu kommt noch, dass die Horden der Kreativen und notorisch gelangweilten Hobby- und Profi-Entwickler rund um den Erdball im Sekundentakt neueste Applikationen in den Umlauf setzen, die es einem erlauben, sämtliche Informationen – so unwichtig sie auch sein mögen – quasi synchron mit ihrer Erschaffung mindestens auf das absurd gewöhnliche iPhone zu beamen.

Jedoch kaum 24 Stunden nachdem ich mich selber diesem erlauchten Kreis der kommunikationswütig kreativen Web 2.0-Gemeinde angeschlossen habe, verbringe ich unzählige Minuten damit, Rechtschriebfehler bei dem Verusch zu vermeinden, den eigentlich absolut belanglosen Inhalt dieses Beitrags mit rhetorischen Kinkerlitzchen und einem ironischen Unterton etwas Klasse zu verleihen.

Tatsächlich glaube ich aber bereits nach so kurzer Zeit den Nutzen dieser für heutige Verhältnisse recht einfachen Erfindung für mich schätzen gelernt zu haben:  Ich für meinen Teil begrüße es, sämtlichen Interessen zentral zu dokumentieren und dabei – hauptsächlich für mich – ein klares Bild von meinem Interessensportfolio zu erarbeiten.
